Here at Serenity Place several standardized documents are used to respond to inquires from the public, to greet new members to A Serenity Place, and to open and close our normal meetings. These documents are provided for the benefit of our membership.

The two greeting letters, known simply as Greeting #1 and Greeting #2, are the online world's difference between an Open Meeting and a Closed meeting. A Serenity Place is a closed meeting. This means that an individual must qualify to as a member of Al-Anon according to Al-Anon's Third Tradition before joining. Individuals who are interested in Al-Anon, but who do not qualify are provided information regarding open meetings. Others, who may qualify for other programs are given suggestions to help them find appropriate resources. This process helps preserve A Serenity Place as an Al-Anon meeting. These letters are based on those used by other closed online Al-Anon & A.A. groups, some of which have been around for nearly ten years.

At the start of each meeting at A Serenity Place, an Opening message is mailed to the membership. The Opening consists of the same readings suggested in the Al-Anon Service Manual. At the end of each meeting, the Closing message is distributed. It, too, is directly out of the Service Manual.
