[Businessmtg] There Is Too a Consensus

Biz-Pals,

I gotta say that in my readings of things there seems to be a consensus - that being that we ought stop offering Beginner Packets. Perhaps my informal take is a bit off, but I don't think so.

KBDM at its best doesn't look at specific outcomes, it looks for areas where there is significant agreement then forms motions from that.

In this case, according to our Secretary, no consensus has been reached. I disagree. There is a clear consensus that we should not be offering packets at this time. Only because there is no consensus on any of the multiple options as written can it be said no consensus has been reached when in fact there is a wide acceptance of not offering these packets at this time.

I say we have a consensus to affirm that, "We not offer beginner packets at this time".

Some word their position one way; others other ways, but the common ground, where there is wide agreement - near unanimous from what I can tell - is "No packets now."

Switching to Robert's Rules when a clear consensus exists ignores the greatest benefit of KBDM: We form our motions from where agreement (consensus) is found. That consensus is as clear as a bell.

The only way we could claim KBDM isn't working is if we ignore what we obviously agree upon.
