Group Representative (GR): an Al-Anon or Alateen member elected by the group members to represent the group at District and Area Assembly meetings, where they share information of importance. The GR brings that information back to the group. (pg. 63 of the 2026-2029 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual)

ASP belongs to District 53 in the Global Electronic Area (GEA), which is Panel 62. Our Group Representative is our voice in District and Area meetings and will inform members of ASP of workshops that the GEA or District sponsor as well as inform members of important updates at the GEA and WSC.
Like the ASP Steering Committee positions, the Area panels rotate on a 3-year cycle. The current set of GEA officers began their 3-year service commitment on January 1, 2025. The panel of officers consists of the following positions.
~GEA Secretary, GEA Treasurer, GEA Alternate Delegate, GEA Chair, GEA Delegate
The role and duties provided in our current Service Manual will serve as the “GEA Guidelines” for applying for Officer positions. The primary source for this information can be found on pages 148-152 in our current Service Manual.

2024 District News:
District 53 was formed in April 2024 and has been meeting on the first Saturday of each month at noon eastern time. Although there are 19 groups in our District, there are few GRs and even fewer attendees at our meetings. Currently Angel B. a Whats App meeting – Many Voices One Journey Al-Anon group, is our District Rep (DR). Our district meeting discussions have centered around encouraging service within the groups in our district. Angel is attending some group meetings to learn more and is bringing information back to these meetings. There are four of us that attend the district meeting, and most will be rotating out when the panel rotates on December 31. 2024.
