Many of them do not appear in Conference Approved Literature (CAL), but are posted here for clarification. For a more complete list that includes common texting\/Internet acronyms, please\u00a0consult the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/asp-afg.org\/members_2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Acronym-Dictionary.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acronym Dictionary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A: Alcoholic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AA: Alcoholics Anonymous<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3 A&#8217;s: Awareness, Acceptance and Action<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABF: Alcoholic Boyfriend*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ACOA: Adult Child(ren) of Alcoholics<\/strong><br \/>\nSome Al-Anon meetings focus on issues common to ACOA&#8217;s, also referred to as Adult Children. Like all Al-Anon meetings, ASP is open to all members of Al-Anon, defined as any person whose life has been seriously affected by another person&#8217;s drinking (Tradition 3).<\/p>\n<p><strong>AD: Alcoholic Daughter*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AF: Alcoholic Father*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AFG: Al-Anon Family Group(s)<\/strong><br \/>\nEvery meeting, including ASP, is considered to be an Al-Anon Family Group. Al-Anon Family Groups is the organization to which all AFG&#8217;s belong. Al-Anon Family Groups publishes CAL and works out of the World Service Office. Please see <a title=\"Glossary of Terms\" href=\"https:\/\/asp-afg.org\/members_2017\/glossary-of-terms\/\">Glossary of Terms<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AH: Alcoholic Husband* <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AM: Alcoholic Mother*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ANTS: Automatic Negative ThoughtS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AS: Alcoholic Son\/Sister\/Spouse*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ASP: A Serenity Place<\/strong><br \/>\nAn online meeting officially recognized by Al-Anon Family Groups. Please see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al-anon.org\/pdf\/ENGLISHforWEB.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al-Anon Electronic Meetings<\/a> for verification.<\/p>\n<p><strong>C2C: Courage to Change<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is one of Al-Anon&#8217;s daily readers, the second one published. Additionally, members seeking help for personal struggles will occasionally post off topic (OT) requests for ESH to the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>F2F: Face-to-Face<\/strong><br \/>\nThis typically refers to an in-person Al-Anon meeting. Some members don&#8217;t believe in God as a supreme, supernatural being, and prefer to think of Good Orderly Direction as their Higher Power (HP). They will usually write &#8220;OT&#8221; in the subject line, often (but not always) followed by a request for ESH from other members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RA: Recovering Alcoholic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>RABF: Recovering Alcoholic Boyfriend*<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>RAH: Recovering Alcoholic Husband* <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SC: Steering Committee<br \/>\n<\/strong>The primary business committee at ASP. Please see the <a title=\"Trusted Servants\" href=\"https:\/\/asp-afg.org\/members_2017\/trusted-servants\/\">Trusted Servants<\/a> page for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THINK: Thoughtful Helpful Intelligent Necessary Kind<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a suggestion commonly heard in Al-Anon meetings to ensure that what we have to say is, &#8220;Thoughtful, Helpful, Intelligent, Necessary and Kind.&#8221; This acronym is often considered synonymous with the slogan, &#8220;Think.&#8221; Please see the <a title=\"Al-Anon Slogans\" href=\"https:\/\/asp-afg.org\/members_2017\/al-anon-slogans\/\">Al-Anon Slogans<\/a> page for more information.<\/p>\n<p>*Members get a bit creative with these, but you can usually tell what the writer means from the context.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The acronyms below are those most frequently used in ASP meetings.
